The Gourmet Gannet is a boutique Auckland based cooking school running relaxed ‘hands on’ workshops for groups from 8-12 people.
The idea is to have lots of fun while learning new skills and there is always your own homemade goodies to take away with you or enjoy with the whole group!
Our cooking classes are at Muriwai Beach offering a nice sea view while you cook, near Waimauku, on the wild West Coast 25 minutes from the Auckland Skytower.
We also run a patisserie stall at Hobsonville Point Farmers Market every Sunday 9am - 1pm or if you are in the neighbourhood we open our kitchen for direct sales each Saturday, 11am- 1pm. Have a look at our Patisserie section for what is on sale.
About the Tutor
Born and raised in the UK, Allison Mawer began her catering career with an apprenticeship while studying for her catering diplomas in French cuisine at Southport Technical College. After many years working within the trade in Liverpool, London and Germany she finally arrived in New Zealand in May 2000.
After several years pursuing another career in Human Resources Allison has come full circle back to her original trade and passion.
Allison has always dreamed of sharing her knowledge through her own cooking school and with her husbands support and endless hours of labour the dream has become reality.
The Gourmet Gannet was launched in December 2009 with the new premises opening in May 2010.
